GROWN Up :'(

Wandering in the corners of the kitchen,
She tried to seek for her lost childhood
“Don’t daydream you stupid girl!
You are thirteen & you’d grown up”
Shouted her own mother
“If you have finished with the dishes
Why don’t you feed those chickens?”

Tired footsteps falling behind
Her face showed nothing but a faint smile
Though her heart is pleading in pain
To join the cheering girls down the lane

Singing to the chickens with her soft quavering voice
To share her love with them all
“Thought you’d grown up!
Ladies don’t shout like crows”
Croaked an old woman with her rough tune
“How could you be the eldest in the family?
When you don’t know even to mend a piece of cloth”
The little girl tried to smile at her grandmother
Even her heart was flooding with tears

She waited till the Dark
The only thing that brought her a speck of light
With her baby sisters on a side,
The warm blanket waited for her
She crawled to her own world
Next to the window and
Whispered to the lonely star in the sky
“I wish I’d never grown up”
